Santa Clara Valley Water DistrictCalifornia’s Santa Clara Valley Water District has selected IDModeling’s flagship smart water and wastewater enterprise software, Sedaru, to manage its water system.

Sedaru connects organizational data, systems and people across the water enterprise in real time, the company says. It leverages hydraulic, asset and operational management analytics so utilities can anticipate water operations, understand impacts and solve problems for energy, quality, water resource and asset management initiatives.

The district provides wholesale water and groundwater management services to the 1.8 million residents of Santa Clara County, in the heart of Silicon Valley. Sedaru will be the district’s hub for system management and optimization, offering operational and asset management benefits directly to the district in addition to its numerous participating retail water systems.

Sedaru will integrate with SCVWD’s Maximo CMMS, and help the district to create a true smart water network, enabling SCVWD to share outage information with member agencies, take immediate action when necessary, optimize maintenance schedules, and support decision-making with predictive outage response plans.

Late last year IBM and Veolia teamed up to offer smart cities services to municipalities. The first products — smart water services — will incorporate IBM’s Intelligent Water software, which uses big data, and provide a system that integrates, optimizes and analyzes all data related to water management.
