Trane Upgrading 125 Buildings in Birmingham, AL

Trane logoTrane is partnering with Birmingham, AL, to improve energy savings in 125 city structures.

The $61.3 million project is aimed at cutting energy and operational costs 30 percent annually and to save more than $100 million during the next twenty years. The press release says that water upgrades will be made in 119 building; HVAC upgrades in 108 buildings, envelope improvements in 59 buildings; HVAC/mechanical upgrades in 45 buildings; roof replacements in 31 buildings and transformer upgrades in 12 buildings.

The targets for the project include municipal buildings, buildings housing the police and fire departments, museums, libraries and parks and recreation centers and buildings.

Trane, which is a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand, this spring was awarded a contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) for work at ten facilities in New York City and the surrounding area. The value of the contract potentially could reach $114 million, according to Government Contracting News Wire.
