Trane, which is a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand, has been awarded a contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) for work at ten facilities in New York City and the surrounding area. The value of the contract potentially could reach $114 million, according to Government Contracting News Wire.
The company will update building automation systems and perform mechanical replacements under an energy performance contract (EPC) in Brooklyn, Manhattan and White Plains. The goal, according to the GSA, is to reduce carbon emissions and conserve energy. Among the buildings being upgraded at the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Customs House, the Jacob K. Javits Federal Building, the Ronald H. Brown U.S. Mission to the U.N. Building and the Theodore Roosevelt U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building.
Last month, ASHRAE announced Guideline 34P, which is aimed at helping increase energy efficiency in historical buildings. The set of recommendations has not yet been finalized. A second comment period is open until May 2.
