The Global Reporting Initiative and CDP have published a guide that shows how GRI’s G4 Guidelines and CDP’s 2015 climate change questions are aligned, which means companies can avoid duplicating their disclosure efforts.
The two organizations say this will ease the reporting burden for the thousands of companies that use GRI’s Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and CDP’s climate change and supply chain programs.
Linking GRI and CDP: Climate Change (2015) provides cross-references for organizations that wish to use the two frameworks in conjunction, and the same data points in both reporting channels. The information provided through either channel can form part of a sustainability report using the G4 Guidelines and/or to answer parts of CDP’s climate change questionnaire.
This year, the two organizations will issue a new linkage document focused on water. This publication will highlight the linkages between the G4 Guidelines and CDP’s water questionnaire, and use the same format as the climate change linkage document.
GRI has also introduced a new feature — fast track — to give reporting organizations the option to accelerate the review of their draft reports.
