DaVita Kidney Care cut its water use this year with the average dialysis center now using 20 percent fewer gallons in 2014 compared to 2013, according to the health care provider.
DaVita has set a goal to reduce water consumption 10 percent per treatment by 2015 and says it has driven a 14 percent reduction in water usage against a 2010 baseline, projecting a savings of 350 million gallons of water per year due to operational changes.
The health and kidney care company also made progress toward its energy-related 2015 environmental goal in 2014.
In support of the company’s efforts to reduce energy use 15 percent by year-end 2015, also against a 2010 baseline, DaVita Kidney Care’s environmentally focused team, Village Green, launched a building management system pilot to over 130 clinics in the Northwest to increase comfort and reduce energy use.
