Tecogen sold a CM-75 combined heat and power (CHP) system to the Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut. The system will supply 75 kW of electricity to the facility, while simultaneously providing space heat, domestic hot water and pool heating at a lower cost than utility-purchased electricity, saving the facility an estimated $65,000 annually.
The facility is gaining more savings by participating in Connecticut's Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program. The program, administered by Connecticut's Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, provides incentives to properties that offload the grid during peak hours. This program is providing the facility with a fast payback system: Within four years the equipment will have paid for itself.
