Whole Food Markets announced last week that it will work with NRG Energy and SolarCity to install solar panels on its facilities nationwide. The story on the announcement at The Motley Fool says that there are almost 200 locations and that the installations will make Whole Foods one of the top 25 commercial users of solar power, according to the story.
The story says that SolarCity announced that installation will begin on as many as 100 locations this sping. NRG Energy has a similar agreement with Whole Foods that will cover 84 stores and distribution centers. NRG said the installations will generate as much as 13.8 MW.
Hilton Hotels and Whole Food Markets participated in The Department of Energy’s Better Buildings Swap program. Randy Gaines, the Vice President of Operations and New Business Development for Hilton Worldwide, said that the experience was mutually beneficial.
