Web-Based Tool Monitors Energy

Energy Ottawa logo Energy ManageEnergy Ottawa, a subsidiary of Hydro Ottawa in Canada, has released the EnergyFlow Monitor, a web-based tool that helps businesses and landlords identify inefficiencies in energy use.

The application collects data from individual meters—electric, gas, steam, fuel oil and water—in one-minute intervals. That data is then transmitted to secure servers and can be accessed online. Electricity generation, such as solar PV, can also be monitored and graphically presented.

EnergyFlow Monitor is being used by the RA Centre, the largest private nonprofit recreation and leisure facility in Ottawa. Since it was introduced in early 2014, the RA Centre has been able to better understand how and where it uses energy. As a large multi-function complex, it can now measure, manage and allocate costs for areas such as outdoor sports fields, arenas, restaurant and parking lots.

EnergyFlow Monitor was developed by Noveda Technologies.
