A Wal-Mart store in Aguascalientes, Mexico has installed a solar power system that will generate 20% of the store's energy needs. With over 1,056 solar panels totaling 174 kW installed, it is the largest photovoltaic complex in Latin America, according to ANES (the Mexican Solar Energy Association).
The 1,056 solar or photovoltaic panels were installed in 2,173.5 square meters, the equivalent of half the roof of Bodega Aurrera Convencion in Aguascalientes.
Earlier this month, Wal-Mart partnered with the World Environment Center (WEC) to launch an initiative to increase cleaner production and energy efficiency practices in El Salvador and Guatemala.
