The Berryessa Union School District in California has invested $11 million in solar panels, according to The Mercury News. The story says that OpTerra Energy Services told the district in October 2015 that it plans to install panels and the district’s 13 schools and the district office.
The presentation, the story said, indicated that the solar installations will provide 80 percent to 90 percent of the electricity used by the site it severs. This will reduce consumption by 15 percent. The district has $77 million to invest, the story said. A meeting of the School Board next week will determine next steps.
Elsewhere in California, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that Escondido Union School District has agreed to a power purchase agreement with SunPower Corp. The story says that the potential savings for the district is $9.8 million during the next 20 years.
