The U.S. Department of Energy has unveiled The Standard Energy Efficiency Data (SEED) Collaborative. The initiative is a three-year partnership of selected cities and states that will work using a number of different techniques to improve the DOE’s SEED Platform. The platform, according to Builders.com, is a one of the tools used in the Better Buildings Challenge.
The open source SEED Collaborative enables cities, municipalities and states to manage, combine and analyze data for large groups of buildings, the story says. The DOE hopes that the new tool creates incentives for companies to use the SEED platform develop products and services.
The Better Buildings Challenge program last month recognized Placer County, CA, for improving energy efficiency across its 5 million square foot portfolio. The county improved efficiency by 20 percent over 10 years, according to EIN News.
