The U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development have announced new focus areas for the Better Buildings Challenge Accelerator program.
The departments have announced three accelerator programs: Better Buildings Clean Energy in Low Income Accelerator, Cities and utilities in the Better Buildings Combined Heat and Power for Resiliency Accelerator and the State, regional, and local agencies partnering in the Better Buildings Wastewater Infrastructure Accelerator.
The release says that more than 60 partners have joined the challenge this year, including UC Berkeley, Iron Mountain Data Centers, Nike, The Wendy’s Company, CenturyLink Global Data Center Operations and the New York City Housing Authority.
Randy Gaines, the Vice President of Operations and New Business Development for Hilton Worldwide, took part in a Better Buildings Challenge program in which teams from one company assess the energy use of another. In a podcast, Gaines describes his experience walking through a whole Food Market in San Francisco.
