A Texas conference center is showcasing its commitment to the environment by helping some of its land revert to the sorts of native grasses that dominated the landscape a century ago.
Garrett Creek Ranch Conference Center in Paradise, Texas, has already begun the process on 100 acres, and another 300 acres will be converted over the next two years.
The conference center undertook a conservation plan with the TCU Environmental Studies program. The project will result in a nature trail, according to a press release.
The native grass restoration is part of Garrett Creek Ranch Conference Center's overall commitment to sustainability, which includes a farming component.
The property, which specializes in corporate retreats, is located about 45 minutes from Dallas/Fort Worth airport. It has been named a finalist in Texas Meetings & Events' readers choice awards for green meetings venues.
The property is adding the following native grasses:
