TerraCycle is working with 3M to convince consumers to save empty Scotch tape dispensers and cores and collect them, to save the dispensers from being sent to landfills.
TerraCycle has started a Scotch Tape Brigade to motivate the public to save the dispensers. For every dispenser collected, two cents will be donated to a charity chosen by each brigade.
As of Sept. 16, a total of 467 groups or individuals had formed brigades.
After saving 50 dispensers, the groups will send the batch to TerraCycle, which will send the dispensers back to 3M to be refilled and resold.
