System Cuts Fracking Chemical Cost 30%

bosque OptiFluid UnitBosque Systems has released OptiFluids, a chemical completion system that promises to save oil and gas producers up to 30 percent on the cost of chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing.

Many large service companies include a predetermined chemical mix in their completion package regardless of the well’s downhole dynamics, which can lead to inflated chemical prices and reduced well performance, according to Bosque. Completion jobs still require the service companies’ large horsepower machinery, but OptiFluids unbundles the chemicals from the package, allowing producers to choose the best chemicals for each job rather than accepting a predetermined package from the horsepower provider.

The system connects producers directly with chemical manufacturers, eliminating the price markups incurred as chemicals pass through resellers, service companies and pumping firms.

The system encompasses complete monitoring and control capabilities for each chemical individually, delivering the exact dosage throughout the hydraulic fracturing process. Bosque field experts allocate the mix, and specially designed equipment precisely measures and delivers it to the pumps. Producers pay for exactly the amount of chemicals they receive.
