This year, at least four Swedish businesses have committed to becoming part of “Green Valley Network,” a job-creating concept encouraged by Wal-Mart and promoted by the Arkansas' Fayetteville Economic Development Council, Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports.
Last May, a Swedish consultant brought the first wave of “green” businessmen from Sweden to Northwest Arkansas. At least 14 businesses have explored the region's network of related resources.
Promoters of the concept say the region will benefit from sustainability clusters related to energy use reduction, building and packaging materials as well as recycling.
Many of the Swedish businesses have established relationships with U.S.-based salesmen and hope the Arkansas network can help increase their product sales.
