Three Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems' truck tire retread products – the G316 AT Fuel Max, the G572 LHD Fuel Max and the G305 ATS Fuel Max – have achieved verification under the EPA SmartWay Transport Partnership program. The EPA guidelines for low rolling resistance require a fuel consumption reduction of at least 3 percent, Fleet Owner said.
Hillphoenix, a producer of advanced refrigeration systems for supermarkets, announced that its Advansor CO2 Booster Refrigeration System received an Underwriters Laboratories listing. The company said that the Advansor CO2 Booster is the first refrigeration system legally available in the US and Canada that uses carbon dioxide as a refrigerant instead of hydroflourocarbons.
Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Texarkana plant has earned Superior Energy Performance status from the Department of Energy, awarded to facilities that achieve a five percent improvement in energy performance over a three-year time span. Cooper said the plant achieved a 10.1-percent improvement over three years to earn the DOE's Gold Certified Partner status, and it expects that the improvements will qualify for ISO 50001 and ANSI/MSE 50021 certifications.

The Riverton Senior Center in Salt Lake City has earned LEED Gold certification, making it the seventh local county facility to achieve the distinction. Five more county facilities await certification. The new senior center joins Salt Lake County's LEED-certified Public Works Administration Building (platinum), Northwest Recreation Center, Sorenson Recreation Center, Magna Senior Center (gold), and the silver-rated Draper Library and Salt Palace Convention Center, the Salt Lake Tribune said.
