IMPACT Exhibition Management Co. has continued to reduce energy use to ISO 50001 standards for a second year at the IMPACT Arena, Exhibition and Convention Center in Bangkok, Thailand. In June the average electricity usage at the 60,000-square-meter exhibition hall and the 47,000-square-meter arena was 0.22 kWh per square meter lower than in the same period last year, the company said.
General Mills' new customer service facility in Fort Wayne, Ind., has achieved LEED Gold certification, making it the largest warehouse and distribution center project in North America to achieve LEED Gold certification, and the third largest in the world. The company said that the project earned gold status for actions including the diversion of 85 percent of construction waste, use of locally sourced materials for about half of the project needs, and the purchase of green power certificates for 70 percent of the building’s electrical usage.
Agricultural equipment manufacturer TürkTraktör has become the first company in Turkey and its sector to acquire both ISO 50001 energy management and ISO 14064 greenhouse gas emissions quality certifications. The manufacturer said it earned ISO 14064 for implementing a set of tools and programs aimed at measuring, quantifying and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with globally recognized standards.
Greek shipping company Arcadia Shipmanagement Co. has earned its ISO 50001 certification in an audit conducted by DNV. The Norwegian classification society also evaluated the Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans (SEEMPs) for all Arcadia vessels and issued corresponding statements of conformity, gCaptain.com reports.
Cloud hosting company Rackspace has achieved certification to the ISO 14001 environmental management standard. The certification is based upon a third-party validation of the company’s UK data center and office operations, Rackspace said.
Canadian Solar has earned CSA1000V certification, verifying that its modules are now authorized to receive 1000V of maximum system voltage. The solar manufacturer said that the panels can reduce overall system costs, while meeting the demands of higher voltage utility-scale PV installations in the Americas. CSA International tested the products.
The American National Standards Institute and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council have accredited the first three certificate-awarding entities under their pilot program for training programs within the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries. The entities are CalCERTS, CleanTech Education, and Midwest Renewable Energy Association, ANSI said. The pilot program evaluates certificate-awarding entities against requirements of IREC Standard 14732, General Requirements for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Certificate Programs.
Yotel New York, part of Related Companies' MiMA development in New York City, has been awarded LEED Gold certification. The hotel's cabins and suites features high efficiency lighting, heat recovery ventilation, a rainwater collection system, and the use of renewable energy certificates for 35 percent of the building’s total predicted energy use for two years, the company said.
