Mitsubishi's 75-inch LaserVue television was named Energy Star Most Efficient for 2012, placing it among the top energy-efficient televisions 55-inches or larger sold in the U.S. Mitsubishi says it is the largest TV to be recognized in the Most Efficient Energy Star rankings; as well LaserVue is the world's first laser TV, and it operates at less than 85 watts, below the Energy Star 5.3 requirement of 108 watts.
Jacobs Engineering Group's Irvine office at the Michelson Building in Irvine, Calif. has been awarded LEED Platinum for commercial interiors. The 50,000-square-foot office uses natural daylight, Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood, low-emitting paint, adhesives and carpet and LED signage and lighting controls, the company said.
Uncoated recycled boxboard (URB) producer Caraustar Industries has been certified to the Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody standard for the following mills: Austell Boxboard Mill #2 in Austell, GA, Carotell Paperboard in Taylors, S.C., Cincinnati Paperboard in Cincinnati, Ohio and Tacoma Paperboard in Tacoma, Wash. Two other mills received their FSC certification earlier, making all six of Caraustar's URB mills producers of 100-percent recycled paperboard product, the company said.
Imbrium System has received the New Jersey Center for Advanced Technology's Technology Verification Report which validates the manufacturer's field test and performance claims for its Jellyfish Filter – a membrane filtration technology for stormwater treatment that removes more than 85 percent of total suspended solids, the company said.
QUA, a developer of advanced membrane products for water and wastewater treatment applications, has been awarded NSF/ANSI 61 certification for the manufacture of its Q-SEP range of hollow fiber ultrafiltration (UF) modules. Standard 61 certification is for drinking water system components - health effects, the company said.
ClearEdge Power, a manufacturer of continuous onsite power systems, has received CSA certification and listing to ANSI/CSA Americas FC-1 for its outdoor ClearEdge5 system. The system meets U.S. and Canadian industry standards for safety and performance, the company said.
Investment advisors MSCI have launched an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) rating system to assist potential investors in determining a country's exposure to environmental and sustainability-related risks. Called MSCI ESG Sovereign Ratings, the system scores on a seven-point scale from ‘AAA’ (best) to ‘CCC’ (worst), aiming to give a long-term view on sustainability, and to complement traditional sovereign debt analysis, the company said.
