SRA International announced last week that it has reduced GHGs 30 percent from its 2007 baseline and committed to reducing emissions by another 5 percent by 2020; the company also committed to reducing paper use by 75 percent per person and to achieve a 90 percent recycling rate.
The announcement came last week during an event hosted by the Obama Administration as part of President Obama's initiative to address climate change. The event was meant to spotlight companies that are demonstrating leadership by reducing GHGs. The roundtable discussion brought together some of the largest federal suppliers with senior administration officials to discuss their GHG targets and to make new commitments.
In 2007, SRA launched the Go Green initiative to identify, assess and implement initiatives to help the company operate more efficiently and with a lighter environmental footprint. SRA has already reduced paper use by 60 percent, recycled about 1.5 million pounds of paper, and reused and recycled our electronic assets, diverting nearly 40,000 pounds of waste from landfills, the company says.
