skf energy manageSKF has been awarded an ISO 50001 global certification by Den Norska Veritas (DNV). SKF’s energy management system has been deployed across 38 manufacturing facilities around the world. In total, these facilities account for more than 90 percent of the company’s total direct energy use.

SKF is a supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services. SKF says it is motivated to improve energy performance from both an environmental and a cost perspective. The ISO 50001 standard helps it address those issues in a structured, systematic and consistent way.

SKF adopted the ISO 14001 environmental management standard in the 1990’s and, more recently, adopted the LEED standard for new buildings. The company is also promoting the wider adoption of ISO 50001 among its energy intensive suppliers.
