Siemens Demand Response Now OpenADR 2.0 Compliant

Posted

Siemens-Energy-ManageSiemens’ SureGrid Demand Response (DR) site enablement system has successfully passed the testing and certification process for Open Automated Demand Response (OpenADR) 2.0 compliance. The cloud-based DR aggregation tool allows for standardized two-way IP-based communication between utilities and building control systems, which can then automatically reduce electricity usage during peak periods.

OpenADR is an open and interoperable information exchange model that standardizes dynamic pricing and electricity grid reliability signals between utilities and commercial end-users. It also simplifies customer DR participation and improves DR event results.

More utilities now require OpenADR compliance to participate in demand response programs, according to Siemens, which adds that its SureGrid technology enables individual buildings to dynamically interact with the electrical grid, based on local business rules and real-time asset and environmental conditions.

Siemens’ SureGrid Intelligent Load Management (ILM) enables retail chain operators and other commercial building owners to maximize DR revenues through patented aggregation and “auction” capabilities. SureGrid is offered as an integrated component of the Siemens Site Controls Energy Management System for chain retailers, and is also compatible with a broad range of Building Automation Systems for large commercial building operators.
