“State of Our Schools,” a report by the 21st Century School Fund, The National Council On School Facilities and The Center for Green Schools, finds facilities lacking across the United States. Among many other things, the report covers HVAC and other energy-related elements of the schools.
The report acknowledges that there have been significant improvements in heating, cooling, lighting, ventilation and noise controls over the years. However, the study shows that there is a gap of about $8 billion – from $50 billion that is being spent annually compared to $58 billion in the past -- between what is being spent now and historic spending on these elements.
The Coolidge Unified School District has retained McKinstry to develop energy use strategies. The focus is on low or no-cost strategies. The news initially was reported in the Casa Grande Dispatch.
