McObject said this week that its eXtremeDB embedded data base system is being incorporated into Schneider Electric’s SmartStruxure Lite solution, a building automation system aimed at small- to mid-size properties.
The release says that SmartStruxture Lite alleviates price concerns that discourages property owners from using building automation in schools, medical buildings and similarly sized structures. The biggest difference is that SmartStruxture is wireless, which reduces capital and operational costs and eliminates building downtime and disruption during installation.
SmartStruxture Lite includes a multi-purpose manager (MPM) which performs key functions. These operations require data to be managed in real time. The real time operations are performed by McObject’s eXtremeDB In-Memory Database System software. The data managed includes communications/routing data; control variables and history; system status; raw and processed sensor data and state data for networked equipment, including HVAC, Light and security systems, the release says.
The building management sector is hot. Verdantix compared 27 building energy software vendors on 130 functionality and vendor success metrics. They found eight market leaders: Elster EnergyICT, EnerNOC, Envizi, eSight Energy, IBM, Schneider Electric, Siemens Building Technologies and Verisae.
