Schneider Electric has executed a 20-year energy savings performance contract (ESPC) with Lawrence Country Schools in Moulton, Alabama, to help the school district fund energy upgrades in its 19 buildings. The upgrades are expected to reduce annual district energy consumption by 25 percent, totaling $11.7 million in energy savings.
Among other improvements, the contract will fund district-wide building automation and IT enterprise management, renovations and upgrades to more than 11,600 interior and exterior lighting components, new windows at a district high school, mechanical renovations at an elementary school, and the ability for maintenance staff to control and troubleshoot mechanical units from a central location.
Schneider will also be implementing energy efficiency upgrades at the San Marcos Unified School District in San Diego, California. The California Energy Commission has approved the district's $4.1 million Proposition 39 Energy Expenditure Plan to replace HVAC equipment, optimize its energy management system, and install LED lighting and photovoltaic systems.
The project will span 18 district campuses and deliver more than 1 million kWh annually in energy savings. It is the second largest plan approved in San Diego County to date.
Last year, Schneider also won a contract to provide up to $4.7 million in energy upgrades for Vista Unified School District, the third of San Diego County’s 42 school districts to have its Proposition 39 Energy Expenditure Plan approved by the California Energy Commission.
