Revolution Lighting Technologies announced this week that it has been awarded contracts for LED conversions for five school systems in two states.
The contracts are for a total of $2.25 million. They cover the New Jersey school systems of Chester, Chatham and Verona and the Pennsylvania school systems of Jim Thorpe and Pottsville.
The story says that the lighting is 60 percent more efficient and last three times as long as legacy fluorescent lighting. The press release notes that there are about 98,000 public schools nationwide. LEDs increasingly are considered the low hanging fruit – the earliest, easiest and most immediately cost-positive – of energy efficiency steps.
In April, Revolution Lighting announced that it had won the contract to provide LEDs to Des Moines University, a medical and health science institution in the city of the same name in Iowa.
