Progressive Lighting & Energy Solutions is to undertake an energy efficiency improvement project for Tarlton Properties, located in Menlo Park, Calif.
The project includes the installation of building efficiency controls and a lighting retrofit at the 47-acre, 13-building business park.
Progressive, in participation with Pacific Gas & Electric, secured funding through a combination of third party programs from RightLights, California High Performance Lighting Program, PG&E's Express Efficiency Program and Automated Demand Response Technical Incentives.
In total Tarlton Properties will garner over $1 million in rebates and technical incentives, Progressive said. Tarlton should realize annual utility bill savings of more than $400,000, with an annual return on investment of over 20 percent.
The City of Asheville, N.C., is hoping to cut its energy use by 50 percent by upgrading its street lights to LED fixtures.
Durham, N.C.,-based company Cree is supplying lights for the project - North Carolina's first large-scale deployment of LED street lights. The City hopes to save $260,000 a year on its electricity bill.
In July 2010, The City of Brea, California, began an installation of solar street lighting as part of an efficiency project aimed at reducing its energy use by 40 percent. The City estimated $13 million in energy savings over the life of the project.
