REI partnered with Al. Neyer, an experienced design-build developer, to create this sustainable distribution center. The collaboration focused on integrating environmental stewardship with business growth and community benefits.
The facility has garnered attention from the industrial development sector, receiving the 2023 Industrial Development of the Year award from the NAIOP Nashville chapter and a 2024 Urban Land Institute Nashville Excellence in Development Award.
Renewable Energy: Demonstrating its commitment to renewable energy, REI has used 100% renewable electricity across all operations nationwide for the past 11 years. The Lebanon operates on 100% renewable electricity, utilizing an onsite solar array and energy from a newly constructed solar array in eastern Tennessee.
Greenhouse Gas Reduction: This project aligns with REI's goal to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50% by 2030.
Sustainable Design: The 400,000 square foot facility incorporates site-sourced natural and recycled materials, including reclaimed wood and metal from the original on-site barn.
Energy Efficiency: Abundant skylights and solar panels contribute to reduced energy consumption.
Water Conservation: Innovative systems are in place to repurpose rainwater, minimizing water usage.
Employee Well-being: The design prioritizes a healthy work environment with features like walking paths and outdoor spaces that connect employees with nature.
And it's not just a building: Sustainable Product Standards; PFAS Phase-Out
