American City & County offers a case study of a lighting retrofit at The Raleigh Convention Center.
The facility hosts 440,000 visitors and 250 to 300 events annually. Graybar previously had upgraded the lights to its underground area. The more recent upgrade was to the exhibit hall. Graybar worked though the U.S. Communities Government Purchasing Cooperative to acquire LEDs. The 150,000 square-foot hall contains about 160 sets of lights. The idea was to replace the 750-watt HIDs and four 500-watt quartz fixtures at each location with 300-watt high bays and 85-watt cylinders. Each also was given a Lutron dimming control.
Several manufacturers’ products were used. The result was a daily savings of about 318,230 per day, the story said.
Schneider Electric is deeply involved in managing energy in the 20,000-seat T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which opened this spring.
