Gojo Industries, the company behind Purell instant hand sanitizer, has released dispensers that it says use less material and are more recyclable.
The Gojo ADX Dispensing System, the result of four years of development, dispenses Gojo and Purell formulations. These include a line of new USDA Biobased- and EcoLogo-certified formulations in sustainable packaging, the company says.
The USDA began the Biobased program in January to designate products – other than food or feed – that are made wholly or significantly of agricultural ingredients. As of April, 60 products had won the right to use the label.
The ADX system is available in 1250 ml and 700 ml versions. It can be restocked with Gojo Sanitary Sealed refills made with Gojo Smart-Flex technology, which includes recyclable PET. The company says these refills use 30 percent less material than HDPE bottles. The refills also include removable pumps to facilitate recycling.
Gojo product systems managers Courtney Cooper said that if one-third of all U.S. schools bought the Gojo ADX system, they would save enough energy to heat 3,473 homes.
The system also features oversized sight windows and colorful formulations that make it easier to check product levels.
