Project Developers Agree to Unified GHG Reporting Standard

To provide consistency in reporting across greenhouse gas reduction projects, the Project Developer Forum has adopted a Project Developer Code of Conduct.

The code is intended to provide direction and clarification in developing carbon emission projects internationally. Formal adoption of the code is a requirement of membership in the Project Developer Forum. The group's members account for a third of all carbon reduction projects worldwide, according to a press release.

The Project Developer Forum was launched in November and incorporated in February.

Since then, its membership has doubled and it has sent numerous letters about GHG reporting and project efficiency to the United Nations-recognized Clean Development Mechanism.

The code of conduct includes:

1. A shared-values statement on integrity, fairness, social responsibility and sustainable development.
2. A requirement to copmly with laws, rules, regulations and the code.
3. A  measure of quality for public disclosures.
4. A commitment to fair dealing.
5. A provision prohibiting bribery or coercion of pubic officials.
6. A requirement to comply with antitrust laws.
7. A commitment to safety and environmental standards
8. A record-keeping requirement.
