Product Announcement: Tetra Pak’s Plant Secure ‘Delivers Profitability Improvements’

Posted

Tetra Pak has launched a new plant management service that will help food manufacturers pinpoint areas for improvements within their operations, ultimately leading to increased efficiency and opportunities for cost savings, the company says.

The new service starts with a detailed audit of all the equipment and systems across the customer’s value chain. This analysis, combined with Tetra Pak’s knowledge of the industry and benchmark data on food manufacturing, enables its specialists to identify opportunities and implement improvements across the customer’s entire operation. All Tetra Pak Plant Secure contracts come with targets around operational expenditure reduction and capital expenditure optimization.

Tetra Pak focuses on investing in cutting edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, automation and data velocity, says Dennis Jonson, president and CEO of Tetra Pak Group. This broadens the company’s perspective, allowing them to “deliver bottom-line benefits for our customers.”

Pilot projects have been carried out in the Americas and in Europe, delivering results that Tetra Pak says are above customer expectations. For example, an Americas-based dairy producer reduced operational costs by more than 10% in the first year of implementation, and the project continues to deliver savings. Tetra Pak Plant Secure is being rolled out to all food and beverage companies around the world.

Within its own operations, the company has been increasing its focus on sustainability by evaluating every part of the business and its impact. The company’s business strategy is now mapped against the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Tetra Pak says.

One area of focus in terms of its own impact is looking for new packaging solutions that will reduce the potential for plastic litter, with a current effort on developing a paper straw for its portion-sized carton packages. The company said last spring that it expects the straw to be ready to launch by the end of the year.

The company is also taking action to mitigate climate change in its operations and supply chain, and was included on the CDP Supplier Climate A list for the second time in 2018, the company noted in its recently released sustainability report.
