Product Announcement: As EMS Market Grows, Eaton Enhances Offerings

Posted

A new US release of its 5P lithium-ion uninterruptible power system (UPS) from Eaton provides extended battery life of up to eight years and reduces the need for mid-cycle battery replacement, according to the company. The lithium-ion UPS also offers remote management capabilities and enhanced network security, Eaton says.

As IT priorities shift toward an increasing need for long-lasting, dependable and integrated power sources that can operate with minimal on-site support, IT and data center professionals are seeking UPS technology that can offer those capabilities - all while lowering maintenance costs.

The increasing demand for energy efficiency in the manufacturing sector, increasing installation of renewables in the industry, and rising adoption of IoT and cloud-based platforms are driving the energy management system market globally, according to research from Wise Guy Reports.

Eaton’s 5P lithium-ion UPS includes an on-board battery management system (BMS) to provide up-to-date insights into battery performance, charge cycles and active temperature monitoring to keep the user informed of the lifecycle of their UPS battery. The UPS also provides enhanced network security with the optional industry-first UL 2900-2-2 compliant Eaton Gigabit Network Card, designed to enhance uptime and protect against cyber threats, according to the power management company.

Additional features of Eaton’s 5P lithium-ion UPS include:

  • A user-friendly, lightweight design with 20% less weight than a comparable lead-acid UPS;
  • Versatile mounting options allowing for simple deployment;
  • Less rack space, compact 1U and slimline wallmount for a reduced footprint;
  • Five-year standard warranty on the UPS and batteries.
