According to the UK Department of Energy and Climate Change’s latest provisional monthly energy statistics, covering the 3-month period February to April 2015, primary energy consumption in the UK on a fuel input basis rose by 3.9 percent, but on a temperature adjusted basis it fell by 0.7 percent.
Indigenous energy production rose by 1.7 percent, with nuclear output up 6.9 percent due to stations returning to operation after outages.
Coal provided 34.0 percent of electricity generation by major power producers, with gas at 26.8 percent and nuclear at 21.3 percent.
Wind generation by major power producers was down 3.4 percent due to lower wind speeds, while overall renewables were up 12.9 percent with growth in biomass.
