Plastyx Ltd. Nears Key Milestone in Advanced Recycling Expansion

Strengthening Plastic Waste Recycling for Sustainable Packaging

Posted

Plastyx Ltd. has reached 75% of its near-term goal to secure 200,000 metric tons of waste plastic by the end of 2025. With 150,000 metric tons already under agreements, the company is on track to exceed its target, potentially doubling its initial objective. This progress strengthens the supply chain for high-quality polymers used in food-grade and high-performance packaging applications, reinforcing the shift toward a circular economy.

Advancing Recycling Efforts

Agilyx ASA is a leader in advanced recycling, converting post-use plastics into virgin-equivalent feedstock. Through Cyclyx, its joint venture with ExxonMobil (25%) and LyondellBasell (25%), Agilyx facilitates the collection and processing of plastic waste into custom-formulated feedstock solutions. Meanwhile, Plastyx, its joint venture with Circular Resources (40%), provides critical European-sourced feedstock for mechanical and advanced recycling markets. Agilyx also markets TruStyrenyx, a polystyrene recycling solution that integrates Styrenyx depolymerization technology with Technip Energies’ purification process.

Plastic Waste & Recycling: The Bigger Picture

The global plastic waste crisis continues to escalate, with 360 million metric tons generated annually. Despite growing awareness, plastic pollution is projected to double by 2040. Recycling efforts remain crucial, yet challenges persist:

Plastyx’s rapid progress reinforces the role of advanced recycling in reducing plastic waste. By securing reliable feedstock sources and expanding partnerships, Agilyx and its ventures strengthen the supply chain for recycled polymers, supporting a low-carbon future and sustainable packaging solutions.
