Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine recently retrofitted over 200 street lighting fixtures with Osram Sylvania LEDs, the installation is expected to save the college $30,000 annually in energy costs, LEDs Magazine reports.
The retrofit system uses the directional light distribution of 66 Golden Dragon Plus LEDs from Osram Opto Semiconductors and delivers light only where needed, helping to minimize light trespass and disruption to Pineland Farm’s neighbors. The LEDs have an average rated life of 50,000 hours with 70 percent lumen maintenance.
The college's LED retrofit was administered by the Maine Public Utilities Commission. The Efficiency Maine Business Program provided support for the LED pilot project and offered recommendations to Pineland Farms on how to save energy and improve Maine's environment.
