Los Angeles also is rolling out a limited number of the devices, which integrated LED lighting and 4G LTE wireless by Ericsson. The release says that the pilot is being run through San Jose’s Demonstration Partnership Policy. The poles feature 750 Philips RoadFocus LED luminaires, which the company says can meet San Jose’s Vision Zero Street light goal. They are 50 percent more energy efficient that legacy bulbs, the release says.

Royal Philips, at the COP21 meeting in Paris, pledged to become carbon neutral by 2020. The release on the move says that the company has reduced its carbon footprint by 40 percent since 2007.
