Royal Philips Electronics announced that it is meeting the sustainability goals of its "EcoVision4" program, launched in 2007.
Philips increased sales of 'Green Products' to 25% of total sales, up from 20% in 2007, and ahead of the target of 30% by 2012. The company launched 91 new Green Products on the market last year, up 72% from the previous year.
While the company has been moving into lighting and acquiring new companies over the past several years, it's carbon footprint for 2008 has remained virtually flat at 2.1 million tons CO2 equivalent, the company states.
In addition to improving the energy efficiency of its products and operations, Philips announced new voluntary recycling initiatives in India, Brazil, Argentina and China.
