Paragon Software Systems has helped its customers reduce CO2 by 900,000 pounds, cut 150,000 miles/week on deliveries and save 143,000 gallons of gas, earning the vehicle routing and scheduling optimization software provider a Top Green Provider Award from Food Logistics magazine for the third consecutive year.

The award offers logistics professionals a guide to the providers, manufacturers, and software and technology companies that have found new ways to promote sustainability throughout their operations and those of their customers.

Paragon was chosen for improving routing efficiency for food logistics customers by minimizing mileage, which reduces fuel usage and truck emissions. The company has helped Sainsbury’s save 142,245 gallons of fuel across four sites, cut CO2 emissions by 3.1 million pounds and reduce overall travel distance by 3.8 percent annually.

Convenience stores are also cutting transportation costs by using Paragon software.

Another company, Hagopian Cleaners, reduced its fleet mileage by 10 percent a year, and had an annual fuel cost reduction of $7,500 for 27 vans while using the program. The company reports a cumulative five year savings of $250,000.
