The New Richmond (OH) Exempted Village School District has saved $180,025 on energy costs, according to The Clermont Sun.
The savings – which accrued from a program that began at the start of the 2013 school year, easily outstripped the projected savings of $110,395. The overhaul included exterior and interior lighting, HVAC upgrades and new mechanical equipment. The district also consolidated controls into a Web-based system, replaced the boiler at the high school and provided funds to create student “Green Teams.”
The cost outlined in the story was $1,686,036. Payoff of the upgrades is expected to be about 13 years based on annual expenditures of $128,767. It is unclear from the piece, however, if some of the improvements were funded from other sources.
In December, the OpTerra Energy Services said that the first year of an energy efficiency program it is running with Woodland Park (CO) School District Re-2 saved almost $4 million.
