solar - ground mount2The Carrier Clinic in Montgomery, N.J., plans a 1.8 megawatt solar array under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with enXco, reports MyCentralJersey.com.

The ground-mounted solar array, spread out over 14 acres, will cost about $10 million to install, with enXco owning and operating the system. Carrier Clinic has agreed to a 25-year contract to purchase electricity from the array.

The solar panels, which will provide up to half of the clinic's peak power needs, should be operational later this year.

About 30 percent of the project's funding comes from a federal grant, with an additional 50 percent coming from a loan from the Public Service Energy & Gas Co.

EnXco is providing the remainder of the funding.
