NFL Licenses Organic Clothing

Every year after the Super Bowl, you’ll see the winning team change into Championship Tees. These commissioned t-shirts are then sold to fans, and they’re typically one of the highest-selling NFL products of the year. This year, the Championship Tees are a little different – they’re 100 percent organic cotton.

Made by Reebok, not only are the t-shirts made using organic yarn, but they also have hang tags made from recycled materials and green stitching inside the neck seam that identifies the shirts as official.

Later this year, the company will release their Reebok Sustain line, which will feature new NFL-licensed clothing made from recycled polyester and organic cotton.

Super Bowl XLIII was the greenest NFL event to date. The NFL purchased renewable energy from TECO for the event and planted 2,700 trees in the area to help offset the game’s carbon footprint. They also donated leftover food to local charities and partnered with StubHub to launch an environmentally friendly “Tickets for Trees” program.
