New York State has made $16 million available for energy efficient housing.
The Press Republican reports that the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority is providing the money through a 10-year, $5.3 million program. The state, under Governor Cuomo’s Clean Energy Standard, requires half of the state’s power to come from renewable resources by 2030, the story says.
The $16 billion will be split between money offered to housing developers and builders of low-rise housing and mid- and high-rise buildings. The story says that the initiative is expected to generate $9 million in annual savings, which could total $180 million during the life of the structures.
Here are details about the phase in schedule of renewable requirements in The Empire State.
