NetLED has released a 40W LED light panel designed to replace a fluorescent tube and controllable by computer, smartphone or tablet device.
Using the networking software, the fixtures can be remotely and individually dimmed to a 10 percent lighting level, allowing, for instance, brighter light above desks in use, dimmer light above desks near windows, and no light in unoccupied areas, reports Cnet.
Such versatility does not come cheap. A single main tube costs 19,800 yen ($257). This tube can drive up to three secondary lights that cost 14,000 yen ($182). To control the whole lot, a server box is required. It can control up to 100 lights and costs 60,000 yen ($781), Cnet reports. A standard non-Wi-Fi LED fluorescent tube would set you back about $50.
In other LED-related news, Deco Lighting has announced a new line of commercial LED lights that will be available this year.
The company's line includes LED roadway, high bay, indoor recessed, wallpack, architectural and landscape luminaires. It says such lights can offer immediate energy savings of 50 percent when compared to traditional bulbs and a further 25 percent savings when targeted dimming is used.
