Nanotech 'Smart Coating' Helps Save 11% on Fuel

Posted

nanotechA new "smart coating" promises 11 percent fuel savings for a range of applications.

Not technically a fuel or oil additive, the product relies on nanotechnology to reduce the cost of operating machinery, generators, pumps, gearboxes, winches and even large marine diesel engines.

The product, from Nanoland, was just introduced in the UK and Ireland, reports NanoVIP.

The nano product helps reduce engine metal wear and even claims to help cut emissions upwards of 60 percent.

The nano coating, which is added to regular oil, modifies the surface texture of frictional metal parts to create a smoother metal silicate coating.

Advanced nano-materials, including inorganic fullerene-like materials, show promise in reducing friction and enhancing protection against wear, according to Nanowerk.
