NAEM Seeks Director of Educational Programs to Lead Corporate EHS & Sustainability Learning Initiatives

Washington, D.C. — 4/6/2026 — NAEM is seeking a Director of Educational Programs to lead the development and execution of its learning portfolio for corporate environment, health, safety, and sustainability (EHS&S) professionals.

This role plays a central part in shaping NAEM’s conferences, webinars, and training programs, ensuring they deliver practical, peer-driven insights that support corporate leaders in advancing EHS&S performance.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, the Director of Educational Programs will oversee content strategy, program development, and event execution across NAEM’s in-person and virtual offerings. The position is based in the Washington, D.C. metro area, with flexibility for remote work for candidates able to attend in-person meetings and events.

Key Responsibilities

The Director of Educational Programs will lead the implementation of educational programs focused on relevant and emerging corporate EHS&S priorities.  This includes:

  • Developing and managing program budgets and timelines
  • Convening and collaborating with advisory committees of corporate sustainability leaders
  • Designing the program agendas featuring case studies, peer learning, and research-based insights
  • Managing speaker recruitment, coaching, and content alignment
  • Overseeing execution of conferences, webinars, and training programs, including logistics and vendor coordination
  • Collaborate with marketing to articulate program narratives and support promotional efforts

The role also includes responsibility for integrating sponsors appropriately into educational programming and ensuring a high-quality experience for attendees and stakeholders.

Qualifications

NAEM is seeking candidates with:

  • At least five years of experience developing professional education or training programs
  • Strong knowledge of corporate sustainability, environmental policy, and EHS&S management
  • Demonstrated project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Experience working with corporate leaders, NGOs, and policy experts
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree in sustainability, environmental policy, business, nonprofit management, journalism, or a related field is preferred.
