Owl Energy Technology’s three-phase motor controllers can lower motor start-up spikes, reducing electricity usage and extending motor life.
Constant speed electric motors consume large amounts of energy even when there is no load. Starting and stopping the motors creates additional wear and tear on the components.
Owl Energy’s intelligent electric motor controllers use thyristors to control the voltage applied at the motor terminals. The thyristors adjust the voltage by precisely controlling turn-on points. This provides just sufficient voltage for the motor to accelerate the load.
This means the voltage applied to the motor starts from a relatively low value and increases to full voltage. Since motor torque is proportional to the square of the applied voltage, the starting torque increases in a stepless manner ensuring a soft start for both the motor and the driven load, says Owl Energy. The motor controller adjusts the output voltage to the motor according to the torque required to do its job, this in turn decreases the current. This means the voltage applied to the motor starts from a relatively low value and increases to full voltage.
