Monetize Waste with Biogas Technology

Biogest biogas plantIntegrated biogas technology that turns stover into electric power and heat will allow the agriculture industry to monetize waste, says Biogest America, which introduced the new technology at the World Ag Expo today.

The system captures the entire stover process beginning with the harvest, to the special pre-treatment, to finally generating electric power and thermal energy in the biogas plant, the company says.

Biogest America, the US arm of the European biogas plant manufacturer, works in the US on stand-alone client projects as well as biogas plants jointly developed, operated and owned by Biogest and its local agricultural partners.

Headquartered in Austria, Biogest has operations in Great Britain, Italy, the Czech Republic, Romania and Serbia and more than 130 operating biogas plants throughout Europe.

In other efforts to help farmers monetize waste, Bion Environmental Technologies has modified its technology platform to enable the capture of ammonia and its conversion into commercial products: renewable energy and fertilizer.

Bion estimates the potential byproduct revenues from renewable energy (and associated carbon-reduction credits) and fertilizer products at Kreider Farms Phase 2 (at full operation), based on present market prices, to be in the range of $15 to $20 million.
