By retiring 200 traditional fluorescent light fixtures throughout its 17,000-square-foot office facility, Miratel Solutions expects energy usage reductions of more than 40%. The Toronto-based call center announces that they have added to their environmental initiatives by retrofitting all office light fixtures to energy efficient units.
Their current configuration of 200 light fixtures uses 800 T12 fluorescent lamps with magnetic ballasts and will be retrofitted with electronic T8 ballasts.
“This change has represented a minimum impact of a 40% decrease in energy usage as we only require 400 T8 lamps in comparison to the 800 T12 lamps previously required. Also, because we are using half the amount of individual components the end-to-end consumption, from manufacturing to waste disposal, has been cut in half,” said Angela Puzzolanti, co-owner of Miratel.
Miratel brands itself as a green call center, offers end-to-end managed services including inbound and outbound call center, professional fundraising, e-commerce and mail services.
Its corporate responsibility road map includes activities ranging from a partnership with Canada's Bullfrog Power, a 100% green electricity provider, sustainable purchasing plans for 100% post-consumer waste paper only, and a plastic water bottle ban for employees.
