This week, a working group recommended the creation of an online portal to allow customers to share their energy data with retail providers in Central Maine Power’s service territory, according to Energy Choice Matters. Customers who chose to enroll in the Electricity Supplier Marketplace would share their contact and hourly energy usage data, recorded using advanced meters, on the website. This would enable retail providers to target time-of-use product offers based on individual customers’ consumption patterns that could reduce their monthly electricity payments. Information on this proceeding can be found under Maine Public Utility Commission docket 2014-00369.
